New York-based Echo3D has raised $4 million to enable cloud authoring of 3D, augmented reality, and virtual reality content for various applications. The company is looking to transform how 3D, AR, and VR content is stored and streamed by reducing the file sizes and development times for 3D objects featured on websites and apps.

The investment round was led by Konvoy Ventures, with participation from Space Capital, Remagine Ventures, and angel investors Datadog, GitHub, and Facebook.

The company was founded back in March 2018 and is building tools and infrastructure to assist developers in creating lighter and faster 3D games and apps. Their cross-platform solution stores, manages, and streams 3D content to mobile devices, browsers, game engineers, and intelligent camera devices anywhere.

The technology also allows for conversion, compression, and optimization of 3D models, animations, and interactive content. Developers on the platform have developed cloud-connected games, AR advertisement campaigns, NFT marketplaces, and more.

“We’re a cloud platform for 3D applications, which basically means that we provide tools and network infrastructure for companies and developers who want to build games, gear, VR experiences, and 3d applications in general,” said Alon Grinshpoon, the Cofounder of Echo3D.

“It’s very similar to how you build a website, and you have to store images and videos on some remote cloud. With Echo3D, you store 3D models, animations, interactive content, and then you can stream that to game engines and mobile devices and headsets and web browsers all over the world.”

The company plans to invest the money for expanding developer relations and growing its team of developers and marketers. They were recently named a Verified Solutions Partner by Unity, making it simpler for the developers to use its 3D-first content management system (CMS) and delivery network (CDN) to build their app backend in minutes.

The company was founded by Ben Pedazur, Alon Grinshpoon, and his twin brother Koren Grinshpoon and is currently looking to expand its existing team of five employees.
