Developer Tender Claws (The Under Presents) revealed that the official sequel for its mind-bending VR game Virtual Virtual Reality will soon make its debut on Meta Quest 2, Oculus Rift, and SteamVR. The original title, released in 2017, took players on a reality-hopping adventure that was unheard of in the VR space at that time.
The surprise sequel will take players back to the dark, comedic dystopian world of Virtual Virtual Reality for a new adventure set throughout a peaceful metaverse about to collapse.
“VVR2 introduces players to the newest virtual network: the peaceful retirement metaverse of Scottsdale, where both humans and AIs have uploaded their consciousness for a digital afterlife,” stated the company. “As players begin settling into this virtual utopia, suddenly, Scottsdale’s VC funding is pulled, and its servers begin to shut down one by one. Players have no choice but to outrun the data deletion – ultimately escaping the metaverse and finding a new home back in meatspace.“
The title is set to bring new gameplay mechanics to enable players to interact with other NPCs and the virtual world of Scottsdale in novel ways. Virtual Virtual Reality 2 will debut on February 10th on Meta Quest 2 and SteamVR for $29.99. It could also feature several new original songs and plenty of dark comedy throughout the 10-hour adventure.
