According to an article in AndroidPolice, Google Photos can soon be viewed in AR. Google has WebXR experiments with a focus on enhancing photos. Google has innovative WebXR apps for Google Chrome which will consolidate augmented and virtual reality. The apps will support scanning of social distance and also view a virtual gallery of a user’s memories. The blend of both AR and VR is known as XR.

There are three new WebXR apps that are currently available for users to try. First, there is Floom which displays selectable portals on the ground that transports users to the other side of the world. The WebXR app even shows when users are hovering over water or land. Second, there is Sodar, a “social distancing radar” app that highlights a 2-meter bubble around a user. As the user moves, the bubble follows the user. The third is the Measure Up app, which is a measuring tool. The app measures the area, volume, and length of any object using the phone. A user has to place pins along the edges of nearby items to assist in the measurement.

Lastly, there is the fourth app – ‘Picturescape,’ which is still in development. The Picturescape app is expected to be used to view a user’s memories. Users can view their Photos library in a virtual photo gallery.
