Sam & Max, the Fuzzy freelance coppers-for-hire, are back from their 10-year gap. Declared during Gamescom festivities, Sam & Max: This Time, it is virtual and will let viewers join them as an unknown third wheel sometime in 2021.

Showcased during the Opening Night Live showcase, This Time It’s Virtual’s complete trailer was aired later.

With roots as a comic slip back in the 80s, Sam & Max have a loving place in point n’ click fans’ hearts gratitude to LucasArts’ 1993 adventure Sam & Max Hit The Road.

This Time It’s Virtual will be their first case in over ten years. While the trailer seems fair enough, the story looks a little dull now.

The duo’s arrival is being promoted by Happy Giant Games, who mostly have worked on various augmented reality games. And while they are focusing on virtual reality, for now, Happy Giant has not written off the possibility of a non-virtual reality version in the future.
