The Chinese augmented reality startup, Rokid, has raised a Series C funding round of ¥700 million or $110 million to invest in technology R&D, marketing, and ecological construction.

The company was founded in 2014 and focuses on building computer interaction technology, augmented reality glasses, and ecological construction based on the YodaOS-XR operating system. The recent investment came from undisclosed investors. However, the company has previously raised funding from well-known institutions, such as Temasek, IDG Capital, Credit Suisse, Haitong Security, and Vision Plus Capital.

The company combines cutting-edge Al and AR technologies to capitalize on the capabilities of speech recognition, natural language processing, computer vision, optical display, computer chips, hardware design, and other domains. It develops industrial applications to enhance the user experience that are currently being deployed in over 70 countries and regions worldwide.

One of its leading products, Rokid Glass 2, is a pair of foldable AR glasses. The device weighs 96 grams and offers up to eight hours of continuous usage. It features Rokid’s self-developed all-voice operating system, making it suitable for exhibitions, industrial production, education, and other such applications.

The device also features a built-in NPU neural network processing chip that delivers stellar performance for data processing, image acquisition, and object recognition. The device packs over 300,000 pictures in its database, enabling it to recognize any object in as little as 0.2 seconds for the various applications that it facilitates.
