NexTech AR, a provider of augmented reality and virtual reality services for education, eCommerce, events, and conferences, announced that the CIM (Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum) had chosen NexTech’s InfernoAR Experience platform for its upcoming 2021 Virtual Convention and Expo, from May 3-6, 2021. InfernoAR Experience platform’s virtual features will help CIM to reach a broad audience without the requirement of any travel.

The deal is valued at $200,000-$400,000. CIM will use the InfernoAR Experience platform to provide worldwide access to educational materials on advancements and best practices. This event will also create an economic opportunity globally for solution and service providers who can gain promotion and transparency on the global stage.

“The attendee experiences at our annual CIM convention and expositions have been second to none through our focus on high-quality content, valuable networking opportunities attracting leading industry speakers, and showcasing the latest advancements. NexTech’s platform enables us to create exciting experiences that bring our plenary and keynotes, technical program, site visits, product demonstrations, and technical specs into 3D AR models to thousands of attendees’ phones, tablets, or computers to help exhibitors showcase their solutions to global buyers while bringing educational materials to CEOs, CFOs, engineers, and operators who, prior to the pandemic, may not have had the opportunity to attend an in-person event.” Angela Hamlyn, CEO, CIM.

NexTech will transform virtual exhibitor booths into augmented reality backed experiences, which will be used by CIM to put large and complex technologies right in visitor’s smartphone. Speaker sessions will have special guests and surprise experiences and will be using multi-dimensional broadcast services instead of simple webcasts to engage guests in discussions on how new components, including augmented reality and data, are transforming mining processes.

“We are excited that CIM selected NexTech to help the mining industry take the giant step into a new world of digitized education and experiences by using our cutting edge InfernoAR solutions. NexTech will be transforming virtual exhibitor booths into AR-backed experiences that will put large and complex technologies right in your pocket through a phone or mobile device, which is huge for the first time in CIM event history. Speaker sessions will feature special guests and surprise experiences, and will utilize multi-dimensional broadcast solutions instead of simple webcasts to engage attendees in discussions on how new components including AR/AI and data are revolutionizing mining processes. CIM is helping to change how mining professionals in even the most remote locations across the globe, gain access to new insights and solutions and we’re thrilled to help power that vision with our virtual experience platform.” – Evan Gappelberg, CEO, NexTech AR.

Canada’s mining industry is globally one of the largest, which produces more than 60 variants of metals and minerals. It is around 5% (over $97 billion) of Canada’s total nominal GDP. Most of these metals and minerals feed supply chains globally and support product innovation for EVs and batteries to everyday use materials.
