The safari park and tourist attraction near Prescot, England, Knowsley Safari, is partnering with Growth Platform and Juice Immersive to deliver a VR-powered work experience to local students.

The initiative is a part of the celebrations for National Careers Week (7th – 11th March). The organizations plan to deliver a unique ‘Let’s Explore the Visitor Economy’ program through virtual reality headsets. The program will take the participants through a life-like virtual experience working at Knowsley Safari.

The program encompasses several careers on offer at the safari park. Students can experience being an animal keeper or working at its busy restaurant and outdoor food court.

Nikki Mallott, Head of Learning and Discovery at Knowsley Safari, said, “There are many different careers at Knowsley Safari, such as working in our conservation and education teams, as well as guest relations. These career choices aren’t always obvious to children as they’re growing up, and it can be even more difficult for pupils with special education needs and disabilities to experience these roles. The VR program provides an innovative way of overcoming these challenges.”

Growth Platform is Liverpool City Region’s growth company that connects local businesses and education through the Career’s Hub, a part of the government’s career strategy. Juice Immersive is a Liverpool-based curator and producer of cutting-edge immersive content.

The ‘Let’s Explore the Visitor Economy’ VR work experience program is open for schools based in the Liverpool city region.

“National Careers Week is all about empowering positive change through careers education, and we truly believe the VR work experience achieves this. We’re looking forward to bringing Knowsley Safari’s varied and exciting careers to life for the pupils,” Nikki added.
