The pioneering waveguide designer and manufacturer, Dispelix, announced a long-standing partnership with AR light engine supplier Jade Bird Displays (JBD) to create a family of new reference designs for AR glasses and headsets.
The new designs amalgamate JBD’s family of MicroLED projectors with the Dispelix LED, an industry-leading pantoscopic waveguide with advanced nanotech coating. The two companies brought forward their expertise in MicroLED displays, light engines, and diffractive waveguide combiners to develop the designs.
JBD’s AmµLED™ MicroLED is the MicroLED engine used in the flagship reference design. Additionally, both monochrome and other polychrome projector development kits are also available. The designs have been developed considering the requirements of OEMs and partners to facilitate rapid development, evaluation, and prototyping of branded smart eyewear and other augmented reality products.
The compact monochrome projector is just 0.35cc in volume, weighing 0.60 grams, featuring a FOV of 30°, and is available in red, green, and blue. It has several applications, from monochrome smart eyeglasses development to use in RGB waveguides with multiple input couplers for polychrome applications.
The polychrome projector is 1.3cc in volume, weighing 2.3 grams, and features a FOV of 30°. It packs an X-cube prism that combines images from three individual monochrome panels linked to the faces of the X-cube prism.
JBD is a well-known name in the industry, having launched numerous innovative MicroLED display and projector solutions. The company is currently expanding its production facilities, anticipating a massive demand for its MicroLED displays and projectors.
