A new dissection syllabus covering frogs, pigs, and the human brain will be made available in VR on the VIVE Focus 3 headset thanks to a partnership between VictoryXR, a provider of immersive AR/VR content to power learning initiatives in schools and educational institutions, and HTC VIVE, the pioneering immersive platform by HTC.

High schools frequently use dissection to draw students’ attention toward living organisms’ biological and anatomical functions.

VictoryXR collaborated with Carolina Biological, a US-based provider of the dissection curriculum, to create the instructional materials. The subject’s holographic educator, Wendy Martin, a 20-year veteran and a national finalist for Teacher of the Year for teaching high school science, guides students using a virtual scalpel and scissors.

The Qualcomm XR2 chip-powered HTC VIVE Focus 3 is an all-in-one VR headset featuring high-fidelity hand tracking, combined 5K resolution, and ergonomic comfort. According to HTC, these features can help students have better learning experiences.

“Technology plays a crucial role in transforming the learning experience for students,” said Daniel O’Brien, GM of Americas for HTC VIVE. “Through this new partnership with VictoryXR, VIVE Focus 3 enables students to dive into dissection curriculum in VR with great visual fidelity and highly immersive engagement for better learning outcomes at school.”

High school, college, and university teachers can now acquire a comprehensive education solution from VictoryXR for USD $1,399, including the animal dissection curriculum and 30 learning experiences for the VIVE Focus 3.

“The promise of virtual reality starts with science in schools, and making animal dissection available through a VR headset as good as the VIVE Focus 3, means students will learn in a way as close to the real thing as possible,” stated Steve Grubbs, CEO of VictoryXR. “And what’s more fun than an odor-free, floppy frog that pops back together after being fully dissected!”
