The virtual reality edtech startup offering innovative solutions for higher education, iXRLabs, has raised $800,000 in seed funding. An angel investor from the infrastructure development sector took the lead in the round. The company will use the money to scale the product.

Universities and colleges can access engineering, medical, and scientific virtual reality educational modules from Gurugram-based iXRLabs. The startup aims to support higher education institutions by giving teachers the tools they need to develop immersive and exciting classroom learning experiences and prepare students for the professional world.

iXRLabs stated that it intends to advance its virtual lab by creating more than 500 VR modules in the engineering, medical, and scientific fields by the end of the following year. Additionally, the company stated that it would increase the emphasis on incorporating advanced analytics into the product to produce quantifiable results for students. iXRLabs is currently used at 20 institutions, and in the upcoming fiscal year, the company plans to scale it to more than 200 institutions.

Commenting on the funds raised, Nihar Madkaiker, co-founder of iXRLabs, said, “As a mechanical engineer myself, I have seen the gap between theoretical learning and the practical application of the same. Practical lab sessions are often insufficient to bridge this.”

He also mentioned how difficult it is to conduct industrial applications and tours and how they take time and effort. These difficulties impede learning and widen the gap between industry and academia among students. Students can conduct experiments inside a virtual lab, visit various industrial tours, visualize the processes, and investigate life-size industrial equipment using the iXRLabs VR platform, all from the comfort of their classrooms and at a fraction of the cost.

By 2025, the company hopes to impact over a million students, expand to over 1,000 colleges, and rank among the top enablers of higher education.
