The startup developing Augmented Reality powered creation, storage, and NFT marketable content, MIRAGE, has raised US $1.4M in a pre-seed funding round led by Aglaé Ventures and Delphi Digital.

Palm Tree Crew, Will Price, G Money, Cozomo de Medici, Rahilla Zafar, Cooper Turley, Chase Chapman, and Jon Itzler are other notable investors in the company. Mirage will deploy the funds for hiring fresh technical talent, further developing its platform, and launching a generally available product around the new year mark.

The beta version of the Mirage app was released for friends and family on October 25th. Original AR artworks from Feltzine, Chloe Karyannis, Jack Warne, Fiigmnt (CTO & co-founder at Mirage)m and Shl0ms features within Brooklyn’s Prospect Park–seeding AR visuals in this novel trans-digital world.

Mirage will participate in its primary public augmented reality event during NEAR’s Art without Limits showcase on December 1st and 2nd. The company will showcase its 3D point-cloud painting technology to deliver an immersive, interactive on-site experience.

“Mirage is one of our most exciting investments,” stated Vanessa Grellet, Managing Partner at Aglaé Ventures. “We believe that allowing artists, content creators, and brands to bridge their work, IRL and URL, will unlock unique experiences anywhere in the world and add significant value for them and collectors.”

Mirage’s vision of building Pokemon Go for NFTs has immense potential. Avi Zurlo from Delphi Digital highlighted their conviction in what Mirage was building. When it comes to digital ownership protocols, AR is a medium that is ripe, and the team can provide the industry with solid, long-lasting standards.

“I’m a digital artist first,” said Fiig, CTO and co-founder Mirage, “In my work, I was finding no innovative solution to create true AR ownership with NFTs.”

Mirage was developed as a specialized app that lets collectors use the augmented reality objects they bought. The company is developing the technology that will enable any artist or creative to quickly and easily distribute permanent and geolocated AR works for any audience.
