Oculus is one of the best virtual reality headsets for beginners. It’s because you can start using it right out of the box. You don’t have to plug it into another console or a PC to start diving deep into the VR world. In this article, we will help you learn its basics, and share some of the basic features that will help you enjoy VR straightaway.

Steam To TV

Immersing yourself in virtual worlds is fascinating. It’s so cool that you’ll definitely want to share it with your friends. However, if you’re hosting a VR party, it’s really boring for everyone to watch one person with a VR headset flailing his hands in the air. That’s why you should learn how to cast Quest to TV, so everyone in the room can see what’s happening inside your Oculus headset.

To cast the Oculus display onto the TV screen, click on the “Share” icon located on the universal menu. Then, press the “Cast” button and finally press “Next” on the pop-up window. That’s it, now everything you see in VR is also streaming to your TV.

Download Games From Your Phone

If you’re looking for new games or apps to try on your Oculus Quest, you don’t have to browse the Oculus Store in VR. You can download the Oculus app on your Android or iOS device and shop for apps on your phone. It’s really convenient because upon purchasing an app on the Oculus app, it will automatically start downloading to your Oculus Quest headset.

Play With Friends!

As great as virtual reality is, it can get boring to play by yourself. Luckily, Oculus Quest allows you to play with your friends and explore virtual worlds together. You can easily add new friends by their username and invite them to play together. You can also add people that you’ve met in VR and played recently with. Finally, you can even add your Facebook friends that also own Oculus.

To add new friends, go to the “People” tab located on the universal menu. You can open the universal menu by pressing the “Oculus” button on the right controller.

Use Accessories

Quest 2 is arguably the best standalone VR headset currently available on the market. That being said, you can make it even better by buying various accessories, ranging from battery packs to prescription lenses. We have already written an entire article dedicated to the best Oculus accessories that you should consider buying.

However, you can also use gaming accessories that you probably already have lying around the house, like game controllers, keyboards, and mice. While using the Oculus Touch controller is great, some games are better enjoyed using old-school controllers. Keyboards are also incredibly useful if you want to surf the net in VR.

To use gamepads, keyboards, and mice with your Oculus Quest, you have to go to “Settings”, then click on the “Experimental” section and finally select “Bluetooth pairing”. Keep in mind, that you can only use accessories that have a Bluetooth connection. In case you want to connect a wired accessory, you will have to purchase an OTG adapter.
